When you are a wife or a girlfriend and especially when you are a mom, getting a gift for a special day like your significant others birthday or the birthday of your little one can become quite a challenge.
I have noticed though that not everyone feels this ‘challenge’. Some people are just naturally gifted when it come to this type of thing and over the course of the year will mentally note all their loved ones ‘likes’ and ‘dislikes’ and then produce something outstanding on the all important day.
Others, mainly men, tend to miss all hints thrown their way, bless them, and then blindly guess when they need too. Perhaps a cliché in some cases but definitely not in most. The men in my life, and the presents they turn-up with at birthdays are almost always badly wrapped, the wrong size or just, well, plain wrong.
Although this certainly frustrates I almost always have to laugh and smile. After all it’s not always the gifts we want but instead a little love and affection. These awful gifts are simply good intentions which I love and sometimes I actually enjoy it more when they get it wrong. It adds to the charm, like a young son buying their father the ugliest tie in the world for their father and expecting him to wear it. It just wouldn’t have been so cute if said son had nailed it. It is the getting it wrong that’s fun.
Some people may remain better at presents than others but remember even if you get it wrong, as long as your heart is in the right place you can’t get it wrong. If you do want a higher success rate though, just get online for present ideas and go to one of those gift sites, far much easier.
