She went to bed telling her security detail she is going to sleep and so far it seems that was all she did since the coroners’ office did not reveal any conclusive evidence she was more stoned than she usually was when she went to sleep on a regular night.
She was 27, a bad girl of the rock’n’roll, and she previously confessed her superstition that she will die young. Wild spirited Amy was compared with Janice Joplin as lifestyle, her unique voice being the new, out of this world sound of the soul music.
Pax Prentiss, the man in charge of Passages Malibu treatment center where Amy tried to shake off the many addictions, had stated very clearly that dying at this age was far from being a coincidence for her.
Still, the public knew Amy was able to survive through the most vicious scandals and living on the wild side was part of her image. The public was the one suspecting an O.D to be behind the tragic death of the artist and if the conclusion would be that she simply died of exhaustion the public will be disappointed.
It is very clear that Amy loved to be a rebel and since she lived like one, she might have well died like one. The official sources say she was devastated since her boyfriend left her and ever since then she acted like she was on a free fall. Her ashes were delivered to her family and in spite of her being buried today her death remains a mistery.
Club 27 has counted so far the names of Buddy Holly, Janis Joplin, Kurt Kobain, Jimmy Hendrix, Jim Morrison and so many famous others. With the 23 july 2011 they are counting Amy Winehouse too.
If there is indeed a curse of being famous, living wild and dying at 27, she surely proved it right.
