We hear every day that more and more people are turning to a greener way of living and of course eating.
Going vegan has become quite a trend and like any trend there are many pros and cons supporting or speaking against it.
The so many people advertising the diet are calling it the sensible way of living and they are not wrong. Except from B12 – the single vitamin not able to be synthesized in the absence of animal protein, the diet covers all the basic, shows respect for the environment and most of all helps you lose weight.
With all the above arguments there is no wonder that “ going green” trend so benefic for the current society has adopted the diet as a dear child and many of the followers of the vegan state they are living green for vegan is an attitude not only a way of eating.
What makes the vegan diet so cool? First it seems that not eating meat or any kind of animal byproducts it’s a lot healthier and detoxifying than a normal diet.
Also not using anything that has as source animal life makes you a less consuming person and naturally your life becomes “greener”.
On the other hand the detractors of the diet say it deprives the body of certain nutrients and ultimately influences the mind and the way people think. There is even a folklore about the “vegan lobotomy” saying that veganism causes people to be less communicative and quite grumpy.
Well the people following the vegan lifestyle certainly do not have a weight problem, a thing that is not at all surprising considering that vegetables and fruit have a low cholesterol if any and without dairy or meat the body takes the fiber and nutrients exclusively from the vegetal world so, if we are to believe the nutritionists, this means less toxins.
Do you think is hard to go vegan?
Take for example the Orthodox Lent preached by the Orthodox Church all over the world. During 40 days the believers are under interdiction of consuming and type of animal product and byproduct. Of course the non church people are allowed to consume honey and oil and occasionally fish during special days but that is all.
This period of time is considered an act of will in the service of God and this type of practice is familiar in both Buddhism and Muslimism so the vegan concept is not exactly new.
So if you are looking for a detoxifying diet you may try on vegan. Who knows, perhaps you will become a fan.
