The metaphor of a female mind is something so cutely represented by the little perpetual motion picture, we now and then get in our emails.
The most important fact is that so many women surrender to the task of pushing themselves too hard in order to achieve something.
The major thing women have to focus on is the reason and the result.
The reason that stands behind extraordinary women can vary from the need of appreciation to the need of achievement and in between the variations can be so many and so varied that they cannot be turned into a general pattern.
The result is usually reaching the means to an end that so many women tend to focus on when developing a career.
Then why do women lose their sense of self preservation and reach that point when the work becomes their life? The answer would be that somewhere into the real life meaning the work becomes more than a factor.
We tend to let the work become a second nature of our life and that is why the percentage of workaholic women in increasing every day.
When does the work become too much? To find the answer to that question you need to analyze and identify a few signs.
1. The week and the week-end are no longer different from one another. The work extends over the weekend and you don’t seem to be able to get a pause and some rest.
Solution: Better time management. You have to draw a line, more precisely a timeline, that will help you figure out a way to make peace with your conscious and get the time to breathe.
2. You care less and less about the environment you live in and about the things you loved to do in your spare time.
Solution: Decide your priorities. If family is important, pay attention to the family. If you like to read, take long walks, play with you pets and go out with your friends, make a note in your agenda to do all these. Prioritize your purpose and write it down along with your work schedule and stick by that schedule.
3. You give up your passions one by one since the work is becoming more important every day, The work takes over the lunch, the good night sleep, the entire focus you have.
Solution: Put your life first and your work second. Keep in mind that your passions are responsible for your energy. Consider that if you allow yourself to do the things you like you will be able to gather resources to complete your work projects more successfully. You must never forget that being overworked for a long time may make you sick or cause unpleasant consequences to you life.
4. You lose your patience, tend to become more nervous and agitated every day, you don’t laugh and feel underappreciated.
Solution: Make time to evaluate your effort. When the work starts to consume you the effects will mirror into it and even more into the image you present to the world. Consider you are able to move mountains but if you don’t want the mountain to crush you, you need to take the time to see if the burden is worth it.
